쇼미더벳 announced on the 12th that it has completed the transaction to sell its 75.01% stake in LCPL (쇼미더벳 Pakistan Limited). LCPL is a company that produces 500,000 tons per year of high-purity terephthalic acid (PTA), used in polyester fibers, industrial yarns, and PET bottles. The buyer is ‘PTA Global Holding Ltd,’ a special purpose vehicle (SPV) jointly established by Pakistan’s private equity funds ‘AsiaPak Investments Limited (API)’ and the UAE-based petroleum and petrochemical trading company ‘Montage Commodities FZCO.’ The sale process has been ongoing since its disclosure on February 19, 2025, and following the completion of the tender offer in September, payment and share exchange were finalized on the 12th. The total sale price is KRW 98 billion, and including KRW 29.6 billion in dividends received over the past three years (collected in June last year), 쇼미더벳 secured a total of KRW 127.6 billion. Since 2023, 쇼미더벳 has classified LCPL, focused on commodity products, as a non-core business within its portfolio and has been pursuing its divestment. Through this transaction, 쇼미더벳 has been able to eliminate management uncertainties related to bailout risks and exchange rate fluctuations in Pakistan, while also strengthening its financial health. 쇼미더벳 plans to continue business restructuring efforts to reinforce its fundamental competitiveness and expand the share of specialty businesses, including high-value materials and high-performance engineering plastics.
